Phanon

Instructions for trying out Phanon as a student

Note: normally students may not proceed to the next exercise or lesson until the current exercise is complete. This behavior is disabled in the demo so that you may freely try exercises in different lessons.

1. Go to phanon.usu.edu
2. Create an account (you don't have to use your real email address)
3. Click the + button to add a course
4. Course code: demo
5. Click the "Join" button
6. Click the "Demo Course" link
7. Click "0 - print" - This is the first exercise set of the course. You'll modify the code in the white window. The run button is just above the white code window.

Instructions for trying out Phanon as an instructor

1. Download the sample module
2. Go to phanon.usu.edu
3. Create an account (you don't have to use your real email address)
4. Click the + button to add a course
5. Click the "Create new course" button
6. Type in "My course" for the name
7. Leave the dates empty
8. Enter a random value for the code (note: a current bug in Phanon is that uniqueness of course codes is not enforced. Please enter something you're pretty sure won't conflict with someone else's code.)
9. Click "Save"
10. Click the "My course" link
11. Click the "+" button at the top-right of the screen
12. Click the "Import module" button
13. Navigate to the file "demo-module.pmcart" that you downloaded
14. Click the link to see which students have completed the lesson
15. Click the pencil link for any of the lessons to edit a lesson
16. When editing a lesson you may click on the eye button at the top left for a student view
17. Students may add your course to their Phanon account using the instructions at the top of this page
